High Flow Dual Function Nasal Cannula
Individuals on oxygen therapy typically use an oxygen cannula (also known as nasal cannulas) connected to oxygen tubing in order to deliver the oxygen from the O2 storage tank to the lungs. Monitoring the blood's oxygen saturation level is usually accomplished using a pulse oximeter.
The body's metabolism of oxygen, however, isn't reflected through a pulse oximeter reading but through the monitoring of expired CO2. The dual-function Salter Labs cannula featured here has the capability of delivering O2, like an ordinary high flow nasal cannula, while simultaneously allowing for end tidal CO2 sampling.
